Myanmar; Mandalay and Bagan

After we got out of the monastery we took the bus for 12 hours and came to Mandalay from Mawlamyine. Mandalay is the old capital of Myanmar. We visited some places but 9c8a5067-01Ubein Bridge is the most amazing place in Mandalay in my opinion. It is the world’s longest wooden bridge – 1.5 km long – and you can witness a breathtaking sunset here. All the locals and many monks come here to watch the sunset and enjoy a nice time with friends and family. You don’t need a lot of time to visit Mandalay; 2 days are enough but it definitely worth a visit just because of the Ubein Bridge 😍

Bagan 💕 Words cannot describe it. It is stunning, it’s magical, it’s not like anything else.

Bagan is an archaeological zone. You have to pay a fee of $25 when you enter the city. During the 11th and 13th centuries over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries were constructed in the Bagan. Today there are still over 2000 temples and pagodas. Some of them are big some small. They all have Buddha statues inside. To see the whole area you climb on top of the big pagodas. But unfortunately most of the big ones are closed now because they got damaged in the earthquake happened 2 weeks ago.

Tourism is pretty new in Myanmar. The government made entering the country easier in the last 5 years. Myanmar people are kind and gentle in nature but they are more so with tourists. It is a far away country for some of us but if you ever have the opportunity especially Bagan is one of the unique places in the world.
